I promise I haven’t abandoned writing about Second Life happenings — not even close. It’s simply been one of those stretches where in-world life has been moving at full speed. Between covering Relay for Life team events, rearranging Linden Homes like furniture during a burst of spring cleaning, navigating the usual Saint Patrick’s Day mischief in the Highlands, and attempting to calculate exactly how many days remain until Christmas Expo rolls around again… well, the calendar has been getting ahead of me. I even managed to spend a few days at The River, one of the funnest rock venues on the grid, enjoying their Spring Break sets, getting a suntan and making new friends on the beach! If you haven’t experienced The River, you need to head on down there. Chevy, Khat, Paulina, Tess, Candice and so many more will make you feel right at home and the music will take you to fun times and memories quick as a beat!

Linden Lab has also kept residents busy by tossing in a few surprises. First came the new Copperfield Heights Linden Home neighborhoods (which I’ve covered in a separate article), and now we have the introduction of the Ridgewood Enclave shopping venues. This new Premium Plus perk allows members to claim an available storefront within designated commercial regions tucked deep inside the Ridgewood grouping.
I won’t dive too deeply into the mechanics here, but it’s fair to say the launch experienced a few bumps. The regions were taken offline for repairs for several days, creating the rather amusing spectacle of Bellisserians quietly staking out their backyards where oceanic voids had appeared, waiting for the regions to return so they could make a dash for the remaining shops. From what I understand, more storefronts are on the way, so patience should pay off. It looks like Arabella’s Old Fashioned Cookies will have to remain a future plan — at least for now.

On the positive front, my good friend Celtic Witch managed to grab one and will be offering her Celtic-themed apparel and goods in Scherzo soon. Walking around, it’s kind of cool to see a bonafide commercial district peacefully coexisting among the residential homes of Ridgewood Enclave. What’s more, with some of the big name anchor stores taking sites in the new areas, they will pull shoppers in who might discover a smaller name brand like Celtic Witch and many others, some of whom may be sticking their toe into the retail world of Second Life for the first time.

On the Relay for Life front, fundraising is moving ahead with impressive momentum — not unlike shoppers trying to get through the doors at Costco on Black Friday in pursuit of a big-screen television. Since kickoff in February, residents have already raised well over one hundred thousand U.S. dollars. I’ve been genuinely inspired by the events I’ve attended. The generosity on display goes beyond individual teams; residents are actively helping one another succeed, and that sense of shared purpose is unmistakable.
Many “Bring Your Own Kiosk” events have encouraged not only cross-team giving but friendships to bloom among fellow Relayers from all different kinds of teams. I even FINALLY won a round of BYOK Bingo this past week! The Spirit of Relay isn’t just a catchy phrase. It’s something you can see in action and feel in the community. It’s real, it’s tangible and it’s infectious. I advise everyone to catch it.
I’ve also gotten to try my hand at a little tabloid journalism, covering the antics of JUNA (JoCat and LuCat), Second Life’s most notorious “are they or aren’t they” couple, who have been seen in close proximity to each other at numerous events around the Relay circuit. These two Dinkies have the grid on edge, wondering if they are a couple or just coincidentally close. Everyone is wondering when, or if, one of them will finally pop the question. Of course, they are denying everything. Time will tell and I even hear that fans will have the opportunity to vote soon (for a donation to the Relay for Life) on whether this dynamic power couple should seal the deal.

So overall, it’s been a busy March and things will only get busier in the weeks ahead-2026 is already nearly a quarter over, Easter is on the horizon, spring is in full bloom, Fantasy Faire is a month away, SLB23 and Relay for Life Weekend are coming soon after and much more. Stay tuned for more!
